When we get some questions and find out which ones are frequently asked, there'll be an FAQ here.. in the meantime, here's the ones we have been asked (or the ones I ask myself or anticipate being asked XD;;). For future reference, even though there's ten different artists, the one being referred to as "I" is, unless otherwise noted, Xella ^^;

What is this XDM thing you keep talking about?
XDM is the initials for The XD Movement (or Ecks-Dee, as we call it). It's shorter than typing out The Ecks-Dee Movement every time I want to refer to the comic, and I, quite frankly, am a lazyass when it comes to things, and acronyms are my absolute favourite thing in the world (after Pot Sticker King Potstickers), so I tend to use them and abbreviations quite frequently ^^; Sorry 'bout that.

Your art sucks! Did you know that?
Quite frankly? I've been saying the exact same thing for as long as I can remember... well, no, that's not true, I thought my old art was pretty shiznitty, but since about 1998, when I became seriously interested in art, I've been constantly putting myself down. I do think I've improved since, however, and am constantly improving (except when I'm in a rut and not drawing at all). So even if you don't think the art is as spiffy as like.. Piro's over at MegaTokyo, stick around, maybe one day I'll get that good! ^_^;;

Dude! Why are you constantly putting yourself down? I'd LOVE to be able to draw like that!!
^^;; Thank you for saying so. I think I get about an equal amount of you suck/you rule questions/comments (which aren't all that many ^^;) As for why I'm constantly putting myself down, it's because... well, as my good friend Zan (of My Life In Blue) said once, "An artist is their own worst critic." Unless its an artists best friend, in which case that's pretty bad (whether they're constantly dissing your anatomy or praising your every stick figure and saying its better than Rembrandt, neither of which tends to be helpful ¬¬;;), the statement usually holds true. I always see the worst in my art, even if I really do like a drawing, I'll usually find ten things wrong with it. The reason I do this? Two reasons: one, if I think my art is perfect, I'll never strive to improve, whereas if I think its crap, I'll get pissed off at myself and try to do better. Two, of course, is my need for approval. See, with saying my art is crap (even if I don't think so, but usually I do anyway), people can either agree with me, which is nice because they share my opinion, or disagree with me, which means they like what I do. Both of which feeds my poor eggshell ego XD;; So its a win-win situation, unless they don't say anything at all, but it wasn't likely they would if I said I thought it was great, so I can't win with those kind anyway ¬¬;

Dude.. you.. ramble so much.
Not really a question, but yeah, I do ^^; When you get me started on a topic that I can talk about, I will. For a long, long time. And I tend not to make any sense in the process, so.. sorry about that ^^; But I'm not the only one, so.. nyah. :P

HELP! I don't understand the storyline!! What's going on?!
Amazingly? There is no storyline here. Or at least, not usually. Most of the ideas for these comics come from AIM Chats or IMs with my friends and the people featured in the comics themselves. Others just float into my head. Others are suggested by other people. Some of them can be understood with no prior knowledge of what was happening before or after, some of them are very inside joke-y. XDM is baisically my way of amusing myself, helping improve my skills, and be entertaining in the process. It's a place where I don't have to worry about story continuity, like I do in BA or FoD. It's a place where I can sound my ideas without ever really having to develop them. It's a place where I can put all those little comic ideas I come up with that I don't have any other place for. And its a place where I don't have to worry about being serious or Politically Correct. Because I abhore being PC sometimes XP

Why are things so empty? The comic's been up since April!
The reason for this is because I, Xella, am quite frankly a lazyass. To top that, I have school and two other comics, Bowspirit's Aim (which has been going weekly since November 2001) and Flow of Destiny (which... hasn't been going at all -_-), plus my own personal websites and other such things. And did I mention I'm lazy?

Ahh!! What the hell?! Why does the art style keep changing?!
That would be because there are ten of us. Although it doesn't say it on the page itself (I might remedy that later ^^;), you can find a list of who did what comics on the archive page, underneath the big ugly calendar ^^;

When's the update schedule?
Currently, XDM will update whenever I feel like it. I tend to draw during class, and more and more often I've actually been drawing *comics* in class, so I do have one or two that should be going up. There's no definite schedule as to when things will go up; if you're interested in knowing without checking the page itself, check our LiveJournal community, ecks_dee, where I'll post whenever a new comic or page goes up ^^;

Who are the people at the tops of the pages?
The person at the top of the main page and all these pages is my good friend, Merechan (Mowyi, Blackie, Vicky, etc.), who hosts my websites (lovely angel she is *mwah!*). The daily archive pages feature my other good friend, Kinky-J (Jenn, Jemmy, Lordess of Hentai, etc.), both of whom won't show up for a while, most likely due to my being a lazyass (see above), but I really did feel a great need to include them somehow (so they wouldn't feel left out) ^_^

I'm really offended by your views on (insert topic here). Can you change them for me?
Sorry, but no. Like I said before, this is my sounding board. If shounen-ai, shoujo-ai, yaoi, yuri, gays, lesbians, transexuals, bisexuals, questionings, straights, implied sexual thoughts, blantant sexual thoughts, innuendo, unstandard religions, standard religions, guys, girls, trees, bushes, clouds, skys, jeans, t-shirts, or any of that good stuff offends you.. you're better off not going to any of my comics o_o;; Except maybe Flow of Destiny, because that's pretty dang PC, right there... but there is still stuff there that may offend you. And frankly? If you're so easily offended by any of the above, don't go to my webpages, either o__O;; And if the anime/manga style is what offends you.. too bad. If you're upset about my portraying (insert gender/ethnicity/species/religion/etc.) in a negative light... that I tend not to do. Unless its spiders or mosquitos. Because spiders and mosquitos are evil XD

What do you use on the comics?
All the comics thus far have been drawn in my sketchbook (Strathmore Sketch, premium recycled 9"x12" 60lb. paper. It's got a green cover X3) in mechanical pencil (ranging anywhere from .5 to 1.1mm lead), then inked with a regular ballpoint pen I stole from my math teacher (she nabbed it from the Las Vegas Hilton), scanned with my scanner (Epson Perfection 1200 Photo, line art 400dpi), then resized (changed to greyscale, resized to 72dpi, then to RBG colour) and coloured (layers, paintbrush, eraser, and swatches are your GODS) in Photoshop 5.5 (I have 6, I can't stand it. I have 7, I haven't installed it XD;;) The colouring is usually done with my iPuck (standard iMac mouse), but will occasionally (more often than not) be done with my stylus (Wacom Intuos Graphics Tablet), since I find that easier to use for shading and the like. The computer itself is a first-generation blueberry iMac with Mac OS 9.2.2 and 512MB of memory (plus about the same in virtual memory).

Macs suck, you know that?
That's your opinion, and I have mine, which says that no, PCs are the ones that suck. But its all a matter of personal opinion, and I'd rather not start a flame war in that regard ^^; I will say, however, that Basanti (my iMac) does everything I want her to and nothing I don't want her to, and I've yet to get a virus (because all the l33t h4xx0rz make 'em for PCs coz' they can affect the most people that way)... so.. yeah. Watch me have just jinxed myself XD;;

Did I not answer something? I'm sorry, please feel free to email me about it ^^;
